I have my fingers crossed for sunshine. And also for some asparagus still being available by the time I get to the farmers’ market on Sunday. If you get there before me, please leave some for me. Please?
MASSACHUSETTS POETRY FESTIVAL, Salem
It shouldn’t come as any surprise that I really like poetry. I don’t write much of it; poetry calls for an economy of phrase that novelists don’t often possess. But I like to listen to really wonderful poets read their own work aloud.
We’ll have the chance to hear some wonderful poetry this weekend at the Massachusetts Poetry Festival being held in Salem on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14. Readings and events will be held all over downtown Salem, with trolleys available to shuttle attendees to and from each. A $10 admission provides you with a button that will allow you into almost all of the events. For more information and for the entire festival schedule, please click here.
NEWBURYPORT FARMERS’ MARKET, The Tannery Parking Lot, Newburyport
Week 3. Fresh produce is here, local goodies, live music, and lots of fun!
Join the vendors and market organizers from 9 am to 1 pm this Sunday, May 15 at the Newburyport Farmers’ Market. Come for the fresh food and stay for the music of Looks Don’t Count, a folk, country and bluegrass band. Stroll the stalls, grab your treats, then settle in to listen to the great music and visit with friends and neighbors. (Pssst. I understand there will be fresh local asparagus available too!)
Now, I’ll let the rest of the North Shore Bloggers Consortium weigh in with their suggestions for you.
Kim Bingham of Lighter and Local tells you what’s hot here.
Seth of Lynn Happens has some great ideas here.
Jill and Kristen of North Shore Dish direct you to some great finds here.
Rob and Laura, The Two Palaverers, as always have some super picks here.
