NEWBURYPORT LITERARY FESTIVAL, various locations, Newburyport, MA
Book lovers rejoice! Every year, Newburyport’s literary festival brings writers directly to their avid readers in what is one of the city’s most highly anticipated events. Between Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30, you will have the opportunity to sit in on any number of discussions held in venues all across scenic Newburyport, listening to authors speak about their work in subjects that range from the suspense novel to poetry, sports writing, local history, biography, graphic novels, and more.
Opening ceremonies at the Firehouse Theatre kick off the festival at 6 pm. This is followed by Dinner with the Authors at 7.
On Saturday, highlights include readings by local authors Paul Harding (Tinkers) and Andre Dubus III (Townie), and closing ceremonies back at The Firehouse at 7 pm.
Most events are free, but some (like Friday’s dinner) require an admission fee. And donations to the Festival are very welcome. The schedule of events and venues is too vast to cover here, so please visit the festival website for full details.

NEWBURYPORT FARMERS’ MARKET, The Tannery Parking Lot, Newburyport
The Market is open, the Market is open, the Market is open! Fresh produce is here, and summer is right around the corner.
Join the vendors and market organizers from 9 am to 1 pm this Sunday for Opening Day at the Newburyport Farmers’ Market. Come for the fresh food and stay for the music of Liz Frame and the Kickers (I can personally attest that the band is fab-u-lous). Stroll the market, grab your treats from your favorite food stalls, then settle in to listen to the great music and visit with friends and neighbors. This market is a blast!
New this year: Frequent Farmer Cards. Check out this program and all the market details here.
